Following the Ketogenic Diet with a Hawaiian Palate

Weight Update: April 6

Okay, so I’ve done that dopey thing again where I start a blog then slowly stop updating it. First it was being swamped with work, now my medical issues are back, and I’ve been suffering and whining while still catching up on work. That said, I’m hopeful that this will pass and I’ll go back to the two months of normalcy I was experiencing after my initial fat adapting in January.

Weight Update April 5, 2018

Yup! I finally passed the next five-pound marker. Woohoo! I’ve been going through phases of methods. I think I mentioned before that I was doing intermittent fasting. I went from three times a week to five, then during Spring Break with the kids I just stopped fasting altogether and haven’t gone back. I’m still doing carb-ups on Sundays, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the reason I’m having a flare-up is because I knocked myself way out of ketosis on my niece’s birthday. I’ve never tested dark purple since, so I’m going to skip carb-ups until I’m back to that. Plus, I’m freaking tired all the time again! I need to get back into the groove.

Another thing I’ve changed is that after almost three full months of meticulously logging my food, I’ve kind of got the hang of how to eat, and so I’m starting to feel like I can switch over to the whole listening-to-my-body way of eating. I couldn’t do that at first because I had no idea how much of what I was consuming, but now it feels like the norm, and I just log my food in if I’m curious about how I’m doing. Each time so far, I’ve been pretty on the mark.

Anyway, I cracked the 15-pound marker yesterday. Today I’m actually down 15.8 pounds, so that’s even better. I’ve got recipes backed up, but those have to wait until I have more room to breathe because processing photos is a serious time suck.

Hope your April is going well!
